this French course taught by a native speaker will encourage students to join in group discussions & role plays regarding French, political, economical, environmental & social life. We will also revise grammatical points as & when require.

Course aim

This French course is designed for students with an intermediate / advanced knowledge of French. The purpose of this course is for students to discuss up to date news in French & to actively participle in role-plays & group discussions.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • discuss French news & express your opinions on the subject
  • translate an article from English to French / discuss about the subject / express your opinions on the subject
  • translate an article from French to English/ discuss the subject / summarize it/ express your opinions on the subject
  • prepare a short oral presentation on a subject of their choice
  • describe a holiday / film / book / play / news & give your opinions on the subject

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • students to do short oral presentation / role plays / group discussions / homework / revising grammatical points/ questions & answers / short dictations /

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • a range of class activities : student short oral presentations / group discussions / role plays / questions & answers / small project on a French subject /

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • students will be given copies of homework & articles /

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • students can read French news before attending this course : RFI.fr, France24.fr, BBC news etc....
