Historic Landscapes Survey 2 Practical Skills Development

Ref: C3675359

This practical session will be held on the site of what may have been referred to in historical documents as ‘Alde Kylnesey’, near Fountains Abbey’s grange at Kilnsey in Upper Wharfedale. In the absence of recent ploughing, evidence in this area has survived from prehistoric times in a rich landscape of ancient features that we will begin to record in detail for the first time. Previous experience is not required, and the course will enable students to learn new skills and develop existing ones, working towards professional standards in topographical survey. While attendance at the other survey days will be helpful, it is not an essential requirement.
