This is a 4 week course for families at Chiltern Primary school in Hull. The 4 one hour sessions will focus on creating decorative items for the home using simple stitch methods, easy templates and lovely fabrics. The emphasis is on sharing and learning from each other

Course aim

For parents and children together to create simple stitched pieces to celebrate various events in the yearly calendar. This short course will focus on spring, easter and mothers day. The emphasis is on achievable finished items for each session

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create simple flowers using templates and a few stitches
  • Make attractive gifts and celebratory cards
  • understand how to pin and sew together simple items

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation

  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2018
