Learn a new skill. Learn the basics of the Spanish language: for pleasure, work, to help your children or for your own wellbeing.Understand and use some useful key phrases for personal information , introduce yourself and others, to order something to eat , and be able to say what you like to eat or drink, and other helpful expressions to get by whilst discovering the spanish culture. Develop your confidence practising your new sklls in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Course aim

To introduce students to the Spanish language: basic phrases and clear pronunciation to use when greeting and meeting people , introducing themselves and others and ordering something to eat and drink.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Say hello and goodbye, say your name , where you are from ,what language you speak and use some polite expressions.
  • Understand the days of the week and months of the year and how to tell the time, and understand opening and closing times of public places
  • Understand and use some useful key phrases to introduce yourself and someone else and be able to answer questions about your name, nationality, where you live, etc
  • Understand and use the vocabulary to order some drinks and snacks, and how much they cost.
  • Offer, accept or refuse a drink and say what you like to drink/eat.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • A notebook and pen/pencil to take notes.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • Your tutor will give you information about books, Cds, web sites you can use and discuss what can be useful for you.

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you book. Please could we ask that you check the list below to ensure you meet our basic criteria:

  • You are paying the standard fee (with a credit or debit card) or you are on any of the qualifying benefits
  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2018
  • You have read and accept our standard terms and conditions
