A safe and effective exercise and dance for fitness course focusing on having fun whilst improving health and fitness. Each week consists of an aerobic section suitable for this group, containing toe to toe warm up, mobility, stretching, strength, co-ordination, exercises will help improve focus and concentration. Dance section will involve learning routines and performing in the class. Strength exercises will be performed with resistance bands or exercise equipment. Games will be played to help with fitness and focus. Alternatives and adaptions will be offered to ensure everyone can participate. An enjoyable class in a friendly environment.

Course aim

A fun and enjoyable exercise and dance for fitness course suitable for all. Dance/Exercises to increase fitness levels and improve health and wellbeing, through improving aerobic fitness, balance, co-ordination, strength and games.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • To perform exercises which improve my fitness and help me be more active.
  • To learn and perform dance routines to improve fitness and co-ordination.
  • To keep focused and complete the exercises and games involved in the sessions.
  • To discuss what I have or have not enjoyed.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • Verbal feedback will be given at every session throughout the course individual and as a group where appropriate.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Wear comfortable clothing and footwear suitable for exercise. Contact tutor if necessary for more details.
