This course is built around techniques to build confidence and improve your communication skills. You will learn how to overcome anxiety, stress and nervousness, build interactive and social skills, and be encouraged and guided to make a brief presentation to the class at the end of the course. Various techniques of NLP, EFT and meditation will be explored and experienced in a friendly and supportive environment with like-minded people. Open to everyone, especial those who may feel nervous and anxious in social situations, and those who want to feel more confident in communicating with others. On this course, you will learn some valuable skills that can change your life for the better.

Course aim

This course will enable students to define, understand and utilise a range of communication & confidence building skills. The course includes Interactive presentations and techniques such as NLP & EFT to improve confidence & communication skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise and describe a range of communication and confidence building techniques and models
  • Experience and describe at least two personal benefits from practicing ommunication and confidence building techniques
  • Participate more confidently in group sharing, relaxation and learning activities
  • Utilise at least two ommunication and confidence building techniques in daily life
  • Make a brief presentation to the class on a topic of my choice

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
