Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is particularly aimed at students attending the Angles, Saxons and Vikings course at St Olave's, York, but all are welcome.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Show a greater understanding of Anglo-Saxon culture, especially its written and artistic expression.
  • Demonstrate appreciation of Anglo-Saxon craft and calligraphy skills.
  • Describe one artefact from the exhibition.

How will I be taught?

  • The tutor will guide and support students to explore the exhibition resources.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Students need to arrange their own transport to and from the British Library, which is 5-10 minutes walk from Kings Cross station. Students should also make their own arrangements for lunch before the visit. These costs are in addition to the course fee, which covers exhibition entry.
