To converse confidently & spontaneously with German native speakers in realistic tourist situations using authentic materials.Resources include internet, language games, German leaflets & audio. Topics include using German history & literature, German cities & tourist attractions,German film,ordering food & drink & German customs, celebrations & festivals. Meet new friends who enjoy conversing in German.

Course aim

To consolidate & refresh German knowledge & gain insight into German culture. Extend language skills by increasing vocabulary & learning grammar to enhance spontaneous communication. Immersion in the German language Have fun!

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • Some knowledge of German required. Level taught in class is gcse German. Ideal for people who have lived or worked in Germany.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Research German cities & attractions
  • Gain an insight into German history.
  • Watch a German film & discuss it
  • Learn about German customs & festivals
  • Gain an insight into German literature

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time
  • Internet, power point presentations. Tutor led,group, pair & individual work.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
  • Oral feedback. Written feedback
