The course uses movement to music to help improve and maintain general health and well-being both physically and mentally - improving fitness, memory and self esteem. This term we will be focusing on mobility and flexibility. Guidance is also given about using the routines to be able to continue to exercise outside of the learning environment.

Course aim

To use movement to music as a form of exercise to help improve and maintain ones general health and well-being, to keep ones mind active, helping to improve memory and self esteem.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Perform to music simple routines standing or seated which directly benefit ones health and well-being - including confidence and memory
  • Recognise the three key elements that help to improve mobility and flexibility.
  • Demonstrate one or more of the three key elements of good mobility and flexibility.
  • Recognise and record on SLR one benefit to health and well-being that has improved over the course.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Loose layered clothing and good supportive footwear.
