We shall use a variety of media some of which maybe familiar. We may use the spring as our first inspiration. You will build your confidence as we progress through the course and soon learn to make the projects your own by putting your ideas into place. Your attention to detail will increase as will your skills bank.

Course aim

The course is designed for anyone interested in all aspects of art and craft, we will cover a range of topics, and will use a variety of materials some of which maybe new others less so.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • You will learn how to apply and use papier-mâché.
  • Have a basic understanding of how colour can affect the finished objects.
  • Know when to add embellishment and how much.
  • Be able to use equipment safely and with some degree of accuracy.
  • Be able to explain your thinking about the finished piece and critique it

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • You have a valid email address so that you can receive confirmation of your booking
  • You have been resident in the UK, EU or EEA for the last 3 years
  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2018
