Gardening - A Spring Detox for the Garden

We will continue to feed and care for wildlife which is using our garden area. We will also examine ways to use plants to improve our health and well being.

Course aim

To prepare the garden after the winters worst and to do this to ensure our own safety and well being

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • plan to have fresh looks for our planters and window boxes
  • Replant some containers to include bulbs prepared by us in the autumn
  • Find some easy to grow plants to use as food plants
  • Find some easy to grow plants to encourage further wildlife into our garden
  • Find some easy to grow plants which may be used to improve our indoor environment

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
