Summer in the City Gardens

Ref: C3674615

This course begins in Spring just as seeds should be sown for your summer displays and crops. Students will be shown how to grow flowers, fruit and vegetables just about anywhere. There will be sessions on container and vertical growing to maximise space, designing your garden to enhance space and create a beautiful area to enjoy in the summer. Some session will be held at a local Community allotment so there will be opportunities for practical hands on experience and students will be able to use the facilities on site to grow their seedlings before planting them at home. There will be at least one visit to a different site during the course and many different gardening topics will be covered, some particularly requested by students. A theme throughout this course will be the importance of city gardens to our ecosystems and the importance of creating sustainable environments for wildlife, including how to make a bug hotel!
