This session will provide you with an introduction to the techniques of lino and collagraph printing through clear, step-by-step instructions. The course will introduce you to the basic skills and methods of how to cut lino and to make a collagraph printing plate. You will be shown how to print the plates using printing presses. The prints will use a variety of colours and inking techniques. As well as learning these new skills you will explore the connection between art and printmaking to develop your own creative outcomes.

To provide opportunities for the development of skills and techniques of traditional printmaking using lino and collagraph, leading to the creation of a series of hand printed artwork.s

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Use a range of lino and collagraph printmaking techniques.
- Use printmaking materials and equipment under supervision.
- Complete practical assignments based on lino and collagraph printmaking.
- Understand the variety of styles and different techniques that apply to lino and collagraph printmaking.
- Display confidence whilst developing their own printmaking skills.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
- You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
- A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress
