This term the students will take it in turns to choose a meal for the group to cook each week. They will learn new skills and and about different cooking techniques and practice skills learnt in part 1 around meal preparation. They will also learn about healthy eating and use this knowledge to plan meals and add more recipes to their personal cookbook

Course aim

To learn new skills around meal preparation that will help students live more independent lives. They will continue to practice planning meals and collecting useful simple recipes.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • - have learnt about and be able to practice a range of different cooking techniques such as baking, boiling, frying, steaming
  • - understanding about a healthy diet
  • - had further practice in planning simple nutritious meals
  • - added further recipes to my personal cookbook

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

  • All materials will be provided
