History: 'A Place of Resort'

Ref: C3674458

The five sessions will focus on how the present provision of public parks, recreation grounds, allotments and cemeteries has come about, particularly in the Humberside region. The inclusion of civil cemeteries is explained by the fact that, more perhaps than today, they were once considered to be 'places of resort'. The layout of the course will roughly be (i) general introduction (one session), (ii) public parks (two sessions), (iii) civil cemeteries (one session) and allotments and recreation grounds plus concluding remarks (one session).
