Using ceramic imprinting and building techniques, you will make beautiful pottery that can brighten up your Christmas Tree and Table with personalised inscriptions that can be enjoyed for many Christmases to come. Unique objects that will bring back the memories of the making each year they are unwrapped for this special time of the year, or nice as a gift that will make a special appearance each year to remind them of you. The projects will include, tree decorations, winter animal bunting for the walls, candle holders and dishes, all items will be glazed to a professional finish to adorn you tree and table. everyone is welcome as we prepare for the best Christmas ever.

Course aim

Come and join us and make Ceramic Christmas decoration that can be personalise as the perfect gift. Open to all abilities, you will make a range of decorations to decorate your tree, polar bare bunting, seasonal candle holders and sweetie dishes.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Two ceramic techniques (Slab build, Pinch pot)
  • Two different decoration techniques ( slip, stencil, imprinting, glazing)
  • Learn technical terms used in the production of ceramics.
  • How to Work safely in a studio enviroment
  • How to personalise your own work.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

As a registered charity, and to meet our funders’ requirements, we need to check a few things with you before you book. Please could we ask that you check the list below to ensure you meet our basic criteria:

  • You are aged 19 years or older on 1st September 2018
