Castaway Music: Live Music Performance

This course will give learners the opportunity to perform as part of a community music event, developing their music skills as well as live performance and stage techniques. As well as this the course will encourage learners o take part in as well as understand the various aspects of how an event like the one at the end f this course is organised.

Course aim

To develop skills in music performance as an individual and as part of a musical ensemble. Also to take part in and understand the various roles and aspects of event organising.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Take part in the organisation and running of a live music event
  • Make creative lighting decisions in relation to a music performance
  • Perform either individually or as part of a music ensemble in a live event
  • Demonstrate understanding of the importance of rehearsals and practice on a musical instrument
  • Contribute to creative group discussions on the staging and performance of a piece of music

How will I be taught?

  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
