Castaway Act: Theatre Collaboration

A practical, playful and performative course designed to be inclusive, accessible and multi sensory. Students will be part of a professional production process, workshops their own creative ideas and focus their artistic skills.

Course aim

To work on a professional collaboration with an arts company in Hull and the local community. Whilst learning acting, singing, movement and performance skills and techniques.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Speak, perform and connect more confidently.
  • Improvise and play with people, solo and with the public.
  • Use music and voice solo and in a group.
  • Become physically fit, active and use my body as a powerful instrument in movement, physical theatre and dance.
  • To share my truth and passions.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Progress to a course with another provider
