This 2 Day Course will provide an introduction to the principles of mindfulness and how they can be applied to everyday living. Over the 2 Days a range of mindful techniques and relaxation exercises will be explored to equipt the learner with a tool box of practices. Mindfulness is an approach to life that helps us to relate differently to our experiences. It involves paying attention to our thoughts and feelings in a way that increases our ability to manage lifes challenges. We will explore breathing exercises, creative visualisation and relaxation exercise. This combined approach will allow learners to formulate a Relaxation Plan that is relavant in their lives. This Course aims to improve well being and reduce stress.

Course aim

An introduction to the principles and practice of relaxation and mindfulness.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of Relaxation and Mindfulness Practices.
  • Identify Relaxation and Mindfulness techniques that can reduce stress levels.
  • Prepare a personalised Relaxation plan.
  • Reflect on my own experiences of mindfulness.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • There may be some suggested exercises in between Classes. This is optional.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

  • Nothing else is needed
