Post war film comedies as an insight to British society’s concerns and pre occupations this will include bureaucracy (Pass port to Pimlico) education and gender (the happiest days of your life) Trade Unions (I’m alright Jack) and politics (left, Right and Centre)

Course aim

Course aims to provide a basic knowledge and encourage further interest in the topic and appreciate its significance to us in the present

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate some awareness of the significant features of the subject
  • Have increased personal interest in the topic
  • Have identified realisation of the subject’s significant to today
  • Move on to further study of the topic
  • Have appreciated the frequent facts of quotes and myths of perception

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Please bring with you pen and paper

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
