Yoga improves your strength and flexibility, movement is coordinated with the breath helping to still the mind. Yoga will help you to relieve stress and tension, ease stiffness, to feel both relaxed and rejuvenated. All classes include breathing practices, gentle stretches, a balanced range of postures and deep relaxation. Yoga is non competitive, all practices can be modified to suit your individual needs. This course aims to help you feel supple and uplifted this winter with a focus on warming, invigorating and uplifting practices.

Course aim

Seasonal Yoga : This course will focus on practices that invigorate, warm and uplift, with a focus on mobilising the joints, using subtle breath and movement techniques, gentle backbends and twists and chakra/colour visualisation.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Ease stiffness in the joints, boost circulation and the free flow of vital energy in the body through a range of practices, learning to increase your body awareness.
  • Feel gently uplifted through a variety of breath and movement techniques.
  • Practice a range of asanas that boost energy levels with a focus on upright backbends and twists.
  • Experience upliftment through concentration on Chakras/ colour visualisation.
  • Improve mental alertness and mind stillness through simple Pranayama techniques.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be given constant support and feedback enabling you to improve your yoga practice and also ensuring that you are comfortable and that each practice suits your individual needs.

What else do I need to know?

  • Please bring a yoga mat.

  • Progress to another WEA course
