Art: Summer Fruits

A day of observed drawing, and then painting in watercolour a variety of Summer fruit. No hurry or time constraints as your painting can grow and develop during the day.

Course aim

A day workshop spent drawing and painting Summer fruit. Bright, vibrant colours of berries and seasonal fruit reflect the optimism of this rich and varied season, allow yourself to wallow in an unhurried day of observing, drawing and painting.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • An interest in the Natural World and a chance to study familiar objects .

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • A quiet, calm day of looking and painting.
  • A sense of achievement that you have looked closely at a familiar and discovered more about it.
  • You will learn more about using the rich array of watercolours.
  • You will produce an ambitious and pleasing painting.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • The tutor will contact you before the course and advise on the materials needed.

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
