The taster session will give you an introduction on to how to connect, search and use the internet effectively to find information. We will explore ways to ensure you keep yourself and your information secure when online.

Course aim

Would you like to find out what the internet has to offer? Are you keen to ensure you are safe when online?

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is being offered to Devon Carers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand internet jargon such as URLs, search engines and WIFI.
  • Choose a suitable password
  • Be able to identify whether a website is reliable or not.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • This is a 'bring your own device' taster. Therefore please bring a laptop, tablet or smart phone which has internet access.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful

Conditions
