Ref: C3530249

This course for post-beginners / intermediate level students is designed to build on the Spanish you already know and to help you develop the skills you need to speak and understand Spanish in everyday contexts within a supportive environment.

Course aim

This course works primarily on developing fluency skills giving you the confidence to communicate in Spanish at an intermediate level.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is designed for students with an intermediate level of Spanish or for those who have studied Spanish in the past and would like to brush up their skills.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Express your opinion verbally on key topics covered during the course
  • Give a prepared talk on a topic of your choice
  • Understand longer more complex written texts
  • Summarise the main points of a longer spoken passage

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Most students like to jot down notes and vocabulary. All materials used in the class will be saved on Google Docs and the link emailed to all members of the group

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Consolidation of basic grammar before the course starts would be helpful.

What can I do next?

  • Your tutor will suggest ways of further developing your skills. You will be given guidance as to which internet resources are best suited to your level. A reading list will be provided to interested students.
