Course aim

This talk will illustrate life in Tiverton during the first half of the 1950s, including the celebrations of the Coronation of Elizabeth II, and the rising phenomenon of the 'teenager'.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • learn about the moral climate of the early 1950s
  • discover the popular culture of the period
  • recognise the differences of the lifestyles between the 1950s and 2010s
