Come and learn about the technical side of digital photography which will include taking, saving, editing, sharing and printing photos. For beginners and improvers who would like to get the most out of their compact/bridge cameras.

Course aim

To enable beginners/improvers in digital photography to take photographs, save and improve them. Sharing and printing is included. Mainly intended for compact and bridge camera users.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Get a digital camera ready to use and find appropriate digital user manual pages.
  • Take photographs using camera settings including movies, scenes and shutter timers.
  • Transfer photographs to a computer for saving and sharing including selecting appropriate software to meet personal needs.
  • Make copies of my photographs to keep them safe including online 'cloud' services where appropriate.
  • Use digital editing software to edit creatively.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • You do not need a digital camera to do the course, but you are encouraged to bring your own camera if you are able to do so.
