Weaving for Beginners

You will have the opportunity to design and make craft projects for your home and wardrobe using weaving techniques. Outcomes will include bath mats, winter scarves and woven flowers. We will be learning to use peg looms. Bring a little patience and a commitment to learning!

Course aim

This is a beginners and improvers weaving course. You will be making your own scarves, rag rugs and decorative woven flowers.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn peg loom weaving techniques
  • Use weaving equipment safely and appropriately
  • Be familiar with contemporary weavers in the UK and beyond

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
