Students will learn about online safety, how to carry out internet searches and they will search and apply for jobs.They will also learn how to perform activities online such as ordering items. They will set up an email account, if they don't already have one, and learn how to send emails.

Course aim

To get accustomed to using email and the Internet to enable students to search and apply for jobs independently, carry out online activities relevant to everyday life, and communicate via email.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn 5 ways to be safe online
  • Search for 3 jobs and apply for at least one. (Students not applying for jobs can search for other kinds of info.)
  • Search and order for item online.
  • Set up an email account
  • Write an email to a friend or prospective employer

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Please bring a pen, paper and mobile phone.
