A one day practical workshop for complete beginners where you will be introduced to the tools, skills and techniques to enable you to design and create simple jewellery items. The cost for this 3 hour workshop will be £20.00 and you will be able to take away with you all the jewellery that you have made!

Course aim

A practical, basic jewellery making workshop for complete beginners.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Recognise different tools and their specific uses in jewellery making
  • Use all tools and materials safely
  • Develop and demonstrate creative skills in jewellery design
  • Design, select materials and complete a jewellery project.
  • Investigate a range of different materials that can be utilized in jewellery design

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • There is a possibility that this workshop could lead to a longer follow-on course where the basic skills you have learnt will be built on and enhanced.
