Discover techniques and tips for use in your everyday life - move, meditate, relax, deal with stress and support a calmer mind. Consider the relationship between stress and vitality, the effects on the the seven layers of tissues in Ayurveda (Yogas sister science) and how to rebuild them. Focus on conscious breathing, postures and meditations that help to improve resilience, flexibility and nervous system. Reconnect with the qualities / functions of the mind / body and develop a restorative, holistic daily practice.

Course aim

Relieve stress and develop vitality. Plan and implement a daily holistic practice(s) by applying a basic understanding of yogic principles and the experience of conscious breath/movement /nutrition/relaxation and regeneration techniques.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Participate in a range of Kriya(s) / Meditation(s) that support the seven dhatus (tissue layers in Ayurveda - Yogas sister science).
  • Outline how 1-7 dhatus are effected by my current lifestyle
  • Identify and implement a daily holistic practice that supports my overall wellbeing

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
  • You will be expected to carry out a range of activities in your own time

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Wear suitable loose fitting clothing. Layers are useful so you can be warm/cool enough. A blanket or similar for relaxation. A flask / bottle of water. A pen / notebook
