Christmas card workshop invites you to explore a range of card designs to enable you to create cards with a special, personal touch. You will be introduced to many different designs of card folding and endless images and techniques to produce a professional card of your choice. Enrol now for a creative session aimed at beginners and above.

Course aim

To use a range of methods to create Christmas cards with a personal touch.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • No previous experience need

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Discover various ways of card folding
  • Identify with matting and layering card and paper
  • Use a machine to cut images for a professional appearance
  • Use sentiments, inserts and inscriptions
  • Produce a professional card

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • Hands on and student centred learning will enable you to share your creativity with others in the group. Sharing ideas and collaborating with one another will contribute to meeting your end goal(s)

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • You may take photos of your work or techniques used during demonstration opportunities for your reference.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided
  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • You may wish to search for other ideas of card designs if you wish, using the internet on mobile phones whilst in your session.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
  • You may wish to search for card making inspiration before you join the workshop, but not mandatory
