Ref: C2524418

A new art and design history course focussing on the Art Nouveau style. We will look at a wide selection of work by an extensive range of artists, designers and architects from 1880-1910. We will assess how social, political and cultural changes affected and formed the Art Nouveau style. We will examine how certain architects were associated with specific cities such as Antoni Gaudi and Barcelona, Hector Guimmard and Paris, Victor Horta and Brussels, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh and Glasgow and Gustav Klimt and Josef Hoffman with Vienna. As well as architecture we will look at graphic design, furniture, jewellery, glass, paintings and fashion.
