Nature Explorers

Children will explore nature and, with the support of their parents/carers, engage in outdoor activities like bug hunts, leaf collecting and bird feeding. Parents/carers will support their children's learning through play and a range of creative arts activities including decorating plant pots and making leaf collages. These activities will help children to develop their skills in language and communication, numeracy, knowledge of the world, creative expression and social behaviour.

Course aim

To support parents/carers to engage in creative activities with their children and facilitate their children's learning through exploring nature and outdoor play activities.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Support my child to explore nature and understanding the world.
  • Assist my child in choosing and completing a nature based craft activity.
  • Identify opportunities for learning about nature through play and/or outdoor activities.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
