The Revolutionary Thinkers course will explore the ideas of these thinkers and consider how their ground-breaking ideas challenged existing ideas and norms. The course will also look at the long term and enduring impact of these ideas in the fields of science, astronomy, politics and social reform.

Course aim

The course will explore revolutionary thinkers and analyse how their ideas affected the society and times in which they lived.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Understand the nature of these ideas and how revolutionary they were
  • Understand how these ideas were revolutionary compared to the existing and prevailing norms in relation to the times in which they lived
  • Understand how these ideas impacted in the future and its long-term impact in the fields of science, politics, religion and social reform

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

  • Nothing else is needed
