Craft: Fun with Fabric workshop

On this course you will learn how to draft hexagon templates and make up a hexagon rosette which will be hand applied onto the front of a cushion cover and with just 2 machine lines of stitching you will have made a cushion cover.

Course aim

Learn a new hand skill and complete a wrap around cushion.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • the course is open to all who have a general interest in hand work textiles

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • How to draft a Hexagon template
  • How to cut suitable fabric
  • Apply one hexagon rosette onto centre of cushion
  • Finishing technique using sewing machine

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may have to finish your hand work at home

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • one to one with teacher as time permits

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • a course pack will be provided for which a small charge will be made.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
