Literature: Poetry for Pleasure

Ref: C2420530

For both lovers of poetry and those less familiar with the genre, this short course will primarily provide a forum for reading, discussion and enjoyment. We will consider how to analyse a poem, the use of traditional forms such as the sonnet, and the connection between form and subject-matter in free-verse. Historical and biographical background may also form part of our discussions. Students will be given the poems to be discussed in advance of each session and will be encouraged to make their own suggestions where appropriate.
