Learn the art of acting and drama through a warm and friendly environment with a goal to performing. Course is open to 60yrs plus. All levels are encouraged and beginners are welcome. Build confidence, make new friends while learning a new skill.

Course aim

Drama classes for 60yrs and over. A friendly and engaging environment developing the skill of acting and performing. The class is open to any level. Previous experience and beginners all welcome.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • Course is for 60yrs plus

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn a new art form
  • Build confidence
  • Make new friends
  • Take skills learned in to life
  • Be part of a performance

How will I be taught?

  • You will work as a part of a group. A team effort is required as we all work towards the same goal. Sometimes this can be a performance or show. The tutor will guide and encourage all learners to bring the best results from each individual.

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • Feedback is also encouraged through group discussion within class.

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • May be useful to bring a pen and some paper as sometimes jotting of notes is needed.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • Progress to another WEA course
  • Become involved with the WEA in a range of voluntary work and other activities including campaigning as a WEA member
  • Become involved as a volunteer for a WEA partner or another organisation
