The drawing and water colour course is designed to explore different ways of looking; drawing with a range of materials including pastels ( which contemporary artists and the impressionist painters used), and developing a watercolour painting technique. You will develop you're own sketchbooks with observational and imaginative drawing ; also mixed media work. We will look at examples of different styles of drawing that a variety of artists use and also pen and ink and water colour techniques.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- 1. Create a sketch book diary and be confident to sketch at home, outdoors and in museums.
- 2. You will develop use of watercolour painting techniques or improve use of colour and paint handling.
- 3. Improve your well being through enjoying an art session working with other people and socialising with others interested in art.
- 4. Start to develop a knowledge of other artists and art movements.
- 5. You will develop techniques in showing tonal contrast , composition and colour skills.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
- You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
- You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
What else do I need to know?
- It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
- Sketchbook and loose paper A4 or A3 sketch pads pastel paper and watercolour paper. Pencils hB , 2b , 5B. Chalk Pastels Pen and Ink Watercolours Synthetic or nylon watercolour brushes
