Feel more confident in using your mobile phone. This course teaches you to text messages, communicate effectively using applications such as Whatsapps, Emails, podcasts and other social media. Also you will know how to communicate, take pictures, videos and send to your family and friends for free. You will also be taught how to organise your photos and documents into folders.

Course aim

This course is to enable learners to be more confident using their mobile phones and to use the applications more efficiently. They are able to communicate and be more confident in the technology society.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
  • This course is for people with little spoken English
  • This course is for women only as it is held in a women's centre

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Use my mobile phone confidently and effectively
  • Use the main applications which are Messaging, Emails, Whatsapps and Podcasts
  • Communicate with the family and friends throughout the world for free
  • Organise my documents, files, photos and songs so I can locate anything easily
  • Use the Calendar and Clock, and use them as reminders and alarms

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • There will be much interaction activities amongst the class although at times you may work in your own and in pairs

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • You will be encouraged to consider other students work and give your opinions and suggestions
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed
  • Bring your own mobile phone, tablet or laptop

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • Prepare a list of things you would like to learn from your mobile phone and we will try to accommodate that
