Mixed Textile Crafts

This course is for both beginners and more experienced crafters. You will learn a range of textile crafts that will include, needle felting, hand embroidery and fabric flowers with some time to work on individual projects if desired. This course is part of a project looking into mental well being. There will be some focus/reflection on how the activities and experiences from the course can help to improve your mental health, reduce anxiety and deal with stress.

Course aim

To learn a range of new textile crafts including, hand embroidery, needle felting and fabric flowers.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed
  • This course is for beginners
  • This course is for improvers
  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate a range of hand embroidery stitches
  • To be able to Needle Felt
  • To make a range of fabric flowers
  • To work on an individual project.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • There will be a number of tasks appropriate to your course such as written work, creating art or craft, video, photography or small projects. Some of these may be marked to help you progress

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing is needed for the first session. You may be required to bring in some materials for the following weeks or purchase them for a small fee, this information will be provided. All equipment will be provided.
