The course intends to improve student’s awareness of some useful everyday essentials skills. Sessions with a variety of activities will help students understand: Employability skills topics such as: talking about work, describing your skills at interview and looking for jobs. Personal skills topics such as: giving personal information and talking about feelings. Everyday life skills topic such as: days of the week, months and seasons of the year and festival days in the UK.

Course aim

The course aims to teach students basic skills required for daily life.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Read and write letters and other texts relating to personal information.
  • Build a range of vocabulary for describing feelings.
  • Learn vocabulary and phrases related to employment.
  • Learn the months, seasons and weather types, and be able to say, read and write these.
  • Say, read and write days of the week.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

  • Progress to another WEA course
