Poetry: Trad & Contemporary: Palgrave's Golden Treasury & Forward Collections

Ref: C2341149

Palgrave's Golden Treasury represents traditional poetry, and Poems of the Decade contains some of the best of poetry published now. In this course we shall read and compare these poems across different eras, and think about how poetry works in different times. There have been many changes in the way poems are written over time - but the themes are often the same. Life and death, love, nature, the personal and the political - all human experiences are shown in very different ways through poetry. We shall explore the differences and similarities, and our own responses to the poems in these collections.
