The course aims to introduce learners to the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, looking both at their way of life and their treatment of death. We hope to include a visit to the recently refurbished Egyptian gallery at the New Walk Museum in Leicester. Everyone welcome; no previous knowledge assumed.

The course aims to introduce learners to the archaeology of Ancient Egypt, looking both at their way of life and their treatment of death.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No skills or experience needed
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Outline a simple chronology of events in Ancient Egypt
- List some of the key features of life and death in ancient Egypt
- Discuss the nature of those features and their significance to ancient Egyptians
- Describe the impact of Egypt’s geography on the development of the Egyptian civilisation
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
What else do I need to know?
- Essential reading will be provided. Students will require a notepad and pen. They may also find it helpful to have a file in which to keep their notes.

- No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
