This course is for anyone who enjoys drawing and being creative. In each session you will have the opportunity to draw from observation, look at the work of established artists and create your own work. There will be a range of different materials to experiment with and over the course you will be creating 3D work as well as 2D.

Course aim

This course is for anyone who enjoys drawing and being creative.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create drawings from observation
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the work of selected artists
  • Use a range of materials creatively
  • Develop confidence in drawing

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
  • Some materials will be provided, but please bring your ow sketchbook, pencil, rubber, etc and any other materials you like to work in

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required

What can I do next?

  • This course is aimed at encouraging creativity. It may be that at the end of the course you might want to try out one of the other WEA art courses to continue your drawing
