Yoga for Pregnancy

This course will be adapted to the needs of each individual. As well as working with movments suitable for pregnancy and labour we will work too with 'aches and pains'. This will include backache, cramp, SPD/pelvic instability etc. The breath will be essential with our work

Course aim

This course is suitable for women from 15 weeks. We will work on yoga movements suitable for both pregnancy and labour. The role of breath and sound will be key throughout.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Practice yoga movements for pregnancy.
  • Practice yoga movements for labour.
  • Practice the breath and sound for labour.
  • Be familiar with a mindfulness practice a mindfulness breathing meditation for myself and my baby.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Please bring a mat and firm pillow.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
