Yoga for Pregnancy

The course will be geared to the needs of each individual woman. As well as working with movements for both pregnancy and labour we will work with aches and pains from backache to cramp to SPD/Pelvic Instability. Each session will end with a short mindfulness breathing meditation for you and your baby.

Course aim

This course is for women from 15 weeks pregnant and will work on yoga movements suitable for pregnancy and yoga movements for labour. The role of breath and sound will be key throughout.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is suitable for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Be familiar with yoga movements for pregnancy.
  • Be familiar with yoga movements for labour.
  • Work with the breath for labour.
  • Practice a mindfulness practice and breathing meditation for myself and my baby.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • Please bring a mat and firm pillow.

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
