Mindfulness Yoga 2

Mindfulness Yoga 2 is suitable for those with experience who want to work more deeply with asanas, with breath and meditation. We will work with a range of asanas each week: lying, seated, standing and inverted. Each session will finish with a mindfulness breathing meditation and yoga nidra (guided relaxation).

Course aim

To work with a range of asanas (yoga movements) in depth with awareness with the breath as the link.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers
  • One to two years previous experience of yoga.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Be familiar with a range of asanas:seated, lying, standing and inverted.
  • Practice the 7-Way Stretch for the term.
  • Practice Salute to the Sun.
  • Practice a mindfulness breathing meditation.
  • Be familiar with yoga nidra (guided relaxation).

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
  • You may be asked to undertake additional work in your own time to support your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • It would be helpful if you had access to the internet (Mobile phone, tablet or computer at home or through a library etc.)
  • A yoga mat and block. The latter can be purchased from the tutor if preferred.

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading is required but research on the subject on the internet or in the library may be helpful
