Do you want to further develop your existing computer skills to perhaps increase your current employment prospects or simply out of curious interest in how to use a computer more effectively? Then this course is for you! Learn how to create professional-looking documents, spreadsheets and presentations.

Course aim

This course expands on the level one skills course and focuses on Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint; enhancing existing skills to create professional documents, spreadsheets and presentations. To build confidence in using a computer.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn to create Word documents incorporating various formatting techniques, graphics and tables.
  • Learn to create spreadsheets incorporating various formatting techniques, functions and formulae.
  • Learn to represent numerical data in graphical formats such as Pie, bar, and line graphs.
  • Learn how to create a presentation and slide show.
  • Manage files.

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
  • You will be encouraged to share your work with the group and discuss your learning
  • A file of work will be kept which will help to record your progress

What else do I need to know?

  • All materials will be provided

Pre-course work, reading and information sources

  • No pre reading or pre course work is required
