The course consists of an introduction to basic vocabulary and terminology related to computer and word processing. Microsoft Word, the Internet, web search and email. Students will also use a range of different computer software and programs. An attempt will be made to support all students’ individual needs.

Course aim

The aim of the course is to prepare students with basic computer skills and build up their confidence in using a computer.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No skills or experience needed

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • confidently navigate from the homescreen and open a number of Apps
  • confidently use my device outside of the class sessions
  • Understand and make use of at least one social media site
  • Maintain contact with others by messages, email and /or video chat e.g. Facetime or WhatsApp

How will I be taught?

  • The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning

What kind of feedback can I expect?

  • A range of informal activities will be used by the tutor to see what you are learning which may include quizzes, question and answer, small projects and discussion
  • You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor

What else do I need to know?

  • Nothing else is needed

Conditions
