This course will consist mainly of practical work on Yoga Asanas with Breathing techniques integrated, each session will include a Relaxation and depending on the theme a Concentration technique. Different Yoga Philosophical concepts will be introduced.
Course aim
This course will allow the individual to experience Yoga techniques with guidance for the development of Mind/Body Harmony
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is suitable for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Perform various Yoga Postures in each session to maintain and develop overall flexibility employing the Yogic concept of Ahimsa, non-harm.
- Employ techniques to improve control of their respiratory systems within the class environment and for home practice
- Identify then reduce tension throughout their whole body to increase a sense of general well being.
- Evaluate the effects of concentration/meditation techniques experienced and consider the relevance of a focused mind.
- Recall aspects of Yoga philosophy included in the course, which supports the physical practice.
How will I be taught?
- The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you and the group to be actively involved in your learning
What kind of feedback can I expect?
- You will have opportunities to discuss your progress with your tutor
What else do I need to know?
- Please bring a Yoga Mat and Wear Loose Comfortable Clothing, Blocks will be provided
